2291 ASI2 Gene Information: ASI2 is a gene regulating endocycling in Tetrahymena thermophila. Though nonessential for vegative growth, it is upregulated after meiosis and is involved in the creation of a new MAC. Introduced via transduction with ASI2-GFP plasmid to establish parental cells that showed transcription of ASI2 occurs both in MAC and parental cells at conjugation.
